Linda Procházka is a Czech glass artisan whose luminous creations redefine the interplay of light and distortion. Her artistic journey, deeply rooted in the heritage of traditional Czech glassmaking, has been significantly shaped by her experience at Lasvit, a renowned Czech glass studio where she honed her skills in designing and producing innovative light installations. Linda’s works are a testament to the seamless fusion of time-honored techniques and modern aesthetics, resulting in breathtaking pieces that illuminate spaces and inspire the imagination. Outside of glass, Linda Procházka is a multimedia designer. She graduated from the Academy of Art, Architecture, and Design in Prague, Czech Republic, majored in Product Design.

Yue Kee Rattan Factory

The time-honored Yue Kee Rattan Factory was founded in the 1950s and is managed by Master Chan Sang Kuen and his wife Teresa Ng. It is one of the very few remaining rattan shops in Hong Kong, witnessing the glory of Hong Kong's rattan industry. In the 1980s and 1990s, they focused on overseas markets and collaborated with many foreign designers to produce a variety of rattan items, such as rattan peacock chair, shell chair, rocking chair, baby cradle and animal shaped basket, etc. In addition to selling rattan products, it is also a rare local rattan shop that accepts customization and restoration services.

Kammy Wong

Graduated from Graphic Design at George Brown College and Visual Merchandising Arts and Design and Textiles at Seneca College in Toronto, Canada, Kammy Wong has had many years of experience working in different areas of design. She is currently engaged in product design, floral design, research perspective and installation art, and promoting the development and preservation of the art of Chinese penjing. Influenced by her father Master Wong Chau Shing’s love for nature, Kammy shares the same affection and instinctively turns to natural elements as a source of inspiration. When she was a child, she often collected the branches and leaves that were cut off during the pruning process and used them to create different scenes and toys. Her multifaceted creations, including ceramic works, clothing products, and home decorations, all embody the aesthetics of Lingnan penjing. Kammy now hopes to inherit her father’s knowledge and techniques of Lingnan penjing, and attempts to combine traditional techniques with contemporary design and craftsmanship to create unique works of art. She aspires to perpetuate and popularize the craft of Lingnan penjing through the integration of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary creativity.

Lingnan Penjing Master

Wong Chau Shing

Born in Guangzhou in 1946, Master Wong moved to Hong Kong and started learning the art of Lingnan penjing in 1964. In 1988, he turned his attention to specialized theoretical research and the artistic interpretation of Lingnan penjing. He has received numerous awards and participated in workshops to showcase his skills around the globe, fostering cultural and artistic exchanges. More notably in 2008, he was invited to the 8th Crespi Bonsai Cup International Bonsai & Stone Exhibition in Italy to conduct a demonstration on making Lingnan Penjing. In October 2023, Master Wong was invited by Hong Kong Fringe Club to show his first solo exhibition with the themes of "Legacy", "Continuity" and "Eternity". To promote the art of Lingnan penjing, Master Wong has taught a variety of courses on the fundamentals of horticulture and Lingnan penjing for more than two decades. In 2002, with some of his more devoted students, they collaboratively established a creative and educational venue to further nurture and cultivate new generations of Lingnan penjing artisans. Later in 2007, he founded the Institute of Lingnan Penjing Hong Kong and served as its president and now consultant and technical advisor for the association. He has initiated annual Lingnan penjing exhibitions and artisans exchange programmes, and contributed significantly to the Lingnan penjing’s craft scene in Hong Kong.

Crystal Liew

Malaysian goldsmith Crystal is a rising talent in Hong Kong’s goldsmithing industry. Intrigued by the art of making since young, Crystal first approached goldsmithing with design and appreciation of contemporary art in Hong Kong. She was then trained at the renowned School of Jewellery of Birmingham City University, with traditional goldsmithing skills and the incorporation of technology in the jewelry industry. She was awarded with the Weston Beamor Prize for Good Use of CAD, Rapid Prototyping and Casting, and her pieces have been exhibited in Gaffa Gallery, Australia. What started off as a curious interest, has developed into Crystal’s career. Her passion in making drives her to continue to hone her skills in goldsmithing until today by training across the globe. Currently, she oversees the atelier of Sunsmith and is an enthusiastic workshop instructor sharing her know-how with the public.

Master of Rattan and Bamboo Weaving

Ahung Masikadd

Master Ahung Masikadd, a member of the Puyuma tribe in Taitung City, is renowned for his mastery of rattan weaving and bamboo artistry. Witnessing his grandfather's skill in crafting objects from mountain-harvested rattan from a young age, he pursued his craft formally after primary school by attending the ‘Taitung County Indigenous Handicrafts Training Institute’. His subsequent career has spanned from apprenticeship to senior technical roles and factory management at various rattan companies, including periods sharing his expertise in Japan and Indonesia. Upon his return to Taiwan, he now leads the Puyuma Cultural Workshop, dedicating his life to revitalize Puyuma Village’s culture.

Master of Neon Art

Huang Shan-lo

Huang Shan-lo, a master of neon art in Taiwan, was born in Baoshan, Hsinchu County, in 1961. He moved to Hsinchu City in 1971 and discovered the beauty of neon lights in 1974. He established a neon advertising company in 1985 and his own neon studio in 1995. Utilising his accumulated aesthetic knowledge and experience in neon light research, development and teaching, he began exhibiting his neon art throughout Taiwan. Several of his works have been acquired by overseas museums. In 2014, he relocated his studio back to his birthplace in Baoshan, with a vision of creating a beautiful neon world. Master Huang is renowned for his deep understanding of traditional neon techniques and his commitment to preserving the craft's heritage with innovative design thinking.

Wong Kin Hung has had a keen interest in craftsmanship since he was young and later engaged in hand-made silk work for a living. In his sixties, he resolutely started the business of his eco-friendly screw pine brushes made of ​​aerial roots. Master Wong is concerned about environmental conservation and hopes to promote the idea of leaving nothing to waste through his invention. The opportunity that brought him to this journey was when he reconnected with screw pine grown along the coastline during his travel. The master recalled his childhood memory of creating the brushes with the material. Up till today, his creativity never resets, continuously researching and developing more innovative everyday craft.

Siu Ping Keung, a master of wood carving in Hong Kong, has more than fifty years of valuable experience with a deep understanding of religious statues and Hong Kong wood carving history. He was an apprentice to his father, Siu Yue Cheong, from the age of eight while continuing his studies and later inherited his father's business.

Barnard Chan

The duo co-founded Breakthrough Art Studio in 2015 to focus on the exploration and research of traditional weaving crafts, and the cultural and creative industry. They are developing as a local brand of weaving tools and weaving workshops. Based on their in-depth study of Southeast Asian textile culture, they have developed a comprehensive and structured curriculum to make the craft of weaving and the culture behind it more accessible to the public. They believe the exploration of crafts is a never-ending journey, and each complements one another. Thus, the two are keen to explore the craftsmanship of natural materials and the possibilities of mixed media.

Linus K specializes in using the woodturning technique to create craftwork in wood. Interested in wood craft since a young age, Linus did not engage in woodworking after his graduation. Instead, he worked in the technology and information industry for more than a decade. He regained his interest as time passed, studying the way of woodworking in his spare time. After a trip to Morocco, he was deeply inspired and impressed by the bow lathing techniques of the locals, leading him to start his woodturning craft in Hong Kong.

Vivian Law and Justin Chan learned the techniques of contemporary relief wood carving in Taiwan under the tutelage of sculptor Yang Pei-chen. They then continued to broaden their skills and later learned Dongyang wood carving techniques from Master Wu Chuwei in Zhejiang Province, China.

Cheung Hon Him (known as h0nh1m), Chris is an artist best known for his innovative audiovisual performance and new media art installation. He is fond of traditional spatial aesthetics, including Bonsai, Scholar Stones, and Zen Garden. By blending new media into traditional arts, he connects the past with the future and re-interprets both Orient and Western philosophies, revealing his unique style and aesthetical ideology.

Ken Chow

Ken Chow has devoted his working life to the craft of woodworking with his passion, constantly perfecting his craft techniques through experimentation and innovation. Having apprenticed in Taipei, Taichung, and Jilin, China, Ken founded Yat Muk Studio to practice, research and teach woodworking. “Yat Muk” means "a lifetime" and "woodwork" in Chinese—hoping to make furniture that can last a lifetime.

Graduated from the Product Design Programme of Hong Kong School of Design in 2014, Chow Man has been working in the product and interior design sector. Jacky Lam

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Jacky Lam graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre and Entertainment Arts from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and Master of Arts in Visual Arts from Hong Kong Baptist University. He was led to wood crafts during his theatre studies, where he made wooden props and decorations for stage performances. In his spare time, he often consulted his professor John Philips on the making of instruments. Therefore, he was first introduced to French polishing, often used in Western instruments. He later was inspired by and self-taught oriental lacquer craft. Apart from woodworking and sculpting, lacquer work is also one of his specialties. From craftsmanship to mechanics, Jacky is committed to exploring the contemporary relevance of traditional crafts.

Yan Yung founded the Coutou Woodworking Studio in 2019. Working closely with the community and wood craft, it is established to raise our awareness of how one can bring changes to society with their hands. Kanok Wan

Kanok Wan’s story with woodworking started from his childhood. He was inspired by his grandfather and uncle, who were both carpenters. Since then, he has been deeply fascinated by woodworking. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Creative Media at the City University of Hong Kong in 2009, he developed his career as an interior designer, working on many projects related to woodworking, and rented a studio to do it as a hobby. After a few years, he founded HK Bros & Co., putting his full effort into woodworking.

Finnish-born designer maker Jonas Lutz creates objects of bold simplicity and elegant solutions, often with a tacit playfulness. Jonas has a solid foundation in wood and ceramic crafts that have developed ever since he was a young boy. Yasutaka Oohashi was born in Tsubame-shi. He joined Gyokusendo in 1997, following his father’s path. After ten years of apprenticeship, he became an independent craftsman and established his brand in 2007. To perpetuate traditional tsuiki craftsmanship, he insists on forging with a copper sheet from scratch to completion.

Takeshi Fujii

Takeshi Fujii was born in Tsubame-shi and stays in the same town as the third-generation successor of Fuukidou. After his graduation in 1994, he joined a local copperware workshop, Gyokusendo to kick start his career. Takeshi returned to Fuukidou in 1996. He pursues the beauty of practicality and produces attractive copperware in soft and simple shapes that increases warmth with each use.

Vicky Lau was a visual art teacher and has been enjoying weaving since she was young. After a visit to a bamboo exhibition in Chi Lin Nunnery in Hong Kong, she was deeply attached to bamboo weaving. In 2012, she moved to Japan and began her Bamboo Crafts studies at the Traditional Arts College where she apprenticed to Contemporary Master Craftsman Ishida Masaichi.

Benjamin Wang

Benjamin Wang majored in Landscape Architecture and is currently working in Taiwan’s National Museum of History. He acquired the skill of bamboo weaving from the indigenous Taiwanese when he was a forest administrator in 2013, and persisted to this day with his love of nature, history, culture and craftsmanship.

Born in Chiba, Japan, Tamotsu Nishimoto graduated from the Faculty of Literature of Chiba University, majoring in Behavioural Science. He is now residing in Beppu City. He established his own studio Tamotsu Seisakusho in 2009, combining his artistic sense and practical knowledge to create distinctive handmade bamboo crafts for sale,  as well as collaborating with other brands.

Ting For Chun

Ting For Chun majored in Architecture and Interior Design at Caritas Bianchi College of Careers and graduated in 2010. Ting came into contact with Takezaiku (a Japanese traditional bamboo craft) on a trip to Kyoto. Ting's blossoming interest in woodwork and bamboo craft over the years prompted him to establish his bamboo craft brand Yiwooo in 2018.

Chen Yung Sheng

Born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, Chen Yung Sheng learned the techniques of bamboo weaving while he was studying cultural heritage studies. To preserve traditional bamboo craftsmanship, Chen established his studio “Sheng Zhu Gong Fang” to teach and research bamboo weaving techniques across Taiwan, and to restore traditional bambooware.
